Cape to Cape Day Hikes: A Morning on the Track, an Afternoon Your Way

Cape to Cape Day Hikes: A Morning on the Track, an Afternoon Your Way
By cape2camp No Comments

Keen to do some hiking on the Cape to Cape Track, but not sure where to start? Which section should you choose? How far should you walk? And how do you get back to your car afterwards?

That’s where we come in.

Our Cape2Camp fully supported, self-guided day hikes bring together spectacular coastal scenery, local knowledge and the freedom to enjoy the track your way. We organise the transport, provide your route information and have our local bakeries look after you with a delicious picnic lunch. You get to enjoy the walking.

These shorter adventures build on several years of supporting hikers on the Cape to Cape Track. Along the way, we’ve been honoured with Gold in Adventure Tourism at the 2025 WA Tourism Awards and inclusion in The Dream Collective Western Australia, a Tourism WA and Tourism Council WA initiative recognising the state’s leading tourism experiences. We bring that same care and local knowledge to your day on the track.

Starting 22 January 2027, we’ll be running Yallingup to Injidup on Saturdays, and Contos to Redgate on Sundays, through to late May. Departures from Injidup are at 8 am, 9 am and 10 am on Saturdays. Sunday departures for Cliffs & Caves are at 8 am and 9 am.

Why I’ve chosen these Cape to Cape Day Hikes

Why I’ve chosen these walks

“After several years of hosting fully supported, self-guided hikes on the Cape to Cape Track, I’ve heard so many stories about the sections our hikers love most. The whole track is an incredible landscape, but these two walks keep coming up for their variety, coastal views and the places that make you want to stop and take it all in.”

“The Margaret River region has so much to offer, and fitting it all into your stay can be the tricky part. As a local tour operator on the Cape to Cape Track, I wanted to make it easy to include a coastal walk, with the logistics taken care of and the freedom to enjoy the day your way.”

“In the warmer months, I love the idea of a morning walk with the afternoon still yours. Injidup Natural Spa, right near the end of the northern hike, is such a highlight—a beautiful place to pause, with a dip when conditions are suitable. But you can also make a whole day of it. Bring the younger ones, stop for your picnic and take your time. We’ll have the details organised so you can simply show up and enjoy it.”

— Anne Nordgard, founder of Cape2Camp

Park at the finish. Walk at your own pace.

Park at the finish. Walk at your own pace.

Only one car required.

Simply park your car where your hike ends, and we’ll transport you to the start. We’ll give you a local briefing and help set up your navigation app with your route ready to follow. Then you’re ready to head off.

Stop for photos, linger over the views or keep a steady pace—it’s up to you. Your car will be waiting when you finish, so there’s no need to rush to meet a return shuttle or organise a second vehicle.

You choose how much time to spend enjoying the walk. We’ve taken care of how it all works.

A morning adventure—or a whole day your way

With morning departures and approximately two to three hours of walking, a Cape2Camp day hike fits beautifully into a Margaret River getaway.

Enjoy your bakery picnic overlooking the ocean, then spend the afternoon exploring the region or settling in for a leisurely winery visit.

Or take the whole day. There’s no return shuttle to catch, so you can slow down, enjoy a longer picnic and spend more time at the places you love.

Bring your swimmers, too. There are beautiful beaches and swimming spots along the coastline, with opportunities for a refreshing dip when conditions are suitable.

A morning adventure—or a whole day your way

Caring for this coastline is part of how we operate. As an EcoStar-certified business, we encourage hikers to follow Leave No Trace principles: stay on the marked track, respect wildlife and take all rubbish home.

Our “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” bags clip conveniently onto your backpack, making it easy to carry your rubbish out—and pick up a little extra along the way. They’re available in the add-on section when you book.

From summer’s bright coastal mornings to autumn’s softer light, exploring on foot offers a new perspective—even on places you thought you knew.

Two routes to choose from

1. Yallingup to Injidup: Northern Icons

Approximately 8–9 km | 2.5–3 hours walking | Easy to moderate

Saturdays | Departures from Injidup at 8 am, 9 am and 10 am

Park at Injidup and we’ll transport you to Yallingup to begin your walk back along the coast.

Discover Yallingup Beach, Smiths Beach, Canal Rocks and Injidup Natural Spa along a coastline of turquoise bays, sandy stretches and striking rock formations.
This walk connects some of the region’s best-known coastal sights, with plenty to appreciate between them. Take your time, find a beautiful picnic spot and enjoy the journey.

Near the end, Injidup Natural Spa is a highlight. When ocean conditions are suitable, a refreshing dip is a lovely treat after your walk. On rougher days, take in the scenery from a safe spot on shore.

2. Contos to Redgate: Cliffs & Caves

Approximately 6.5 km | 2–2.5 hours walking | Easy to moderate

Sundays | Departures at 8 am and 9 am

Park at Redgate and we’ll transport you to Contos for your walk back.

Contos to Redgate: Cliffs & Caves

Walk the Contos clifftops, take in Bob’s Hollow and limestone cave scenery, and enjoy sweeping ocean views on your way to Redgate Beach.

The shorter of our two routes, this walk packs plenty of scenery into a morning outdoors—or a slower day with time to stop and enjoy it all.

Self-guided freedom, with local support

You do the walking; we take care of the details. Your day hike includes:

  • Transport from your parked car at the finish to the start of your hike.
  • A local hike briefing and route guidance.
  • Help setting up a navigation app with your hiking route ready to follow.
  • WhatsApp communication with our team before and during your hike.
  • A delicious picnic lunch prepared by local bakeries.
  • Local knowledge, safety support and access to 24/7 phone support.

Come as a couple, gather your friends, bring the family or enjoy some time to yourself. Younger hikers are welcome with an accompanying adult. Choose the route that suits your family’s ability and allow extra time for breaks. Both walks include sand and uneven coastal terrain.

Book your departure, bring your walking essentials and arrive ready for the day. We’ll have the transport, briefing and picnic organised.

What to bring in your daypack

Keep it simple with a small daypack carrying:

  • A minimum of 1 litre of water per person, with more for warmer weather or a longer day.
  • Your picnic lunch, supplied by us—just leave room for it.
  • A lightweight towel or sarong.
  • Your swimmers.

Injidup Natural Spa near the end of Yallingup to Injidup, and the beautiful rock pools at Redgate at the end of Cliffs & Caves, give you a lovely reason to linger. Enjoy a refreshing dip when ocean conditions are suitable.

Sunhats and daypacks are also available as booking add-ons. Our clip-on bags are handy for carrying wet swimmers, too.
