Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I need hiking poles?Hiking poles are optional; they can be helpful especially if you have any pre-existing injuries. If unsure, you can rent them from Cape2Camp, or talk to our team for advice.
-
Do campsites have shower facilities? All sites have showers except for Contos. Cape2Camp provides towels and some amenities each day.
-
Is there phone coverage on the track?Coverage is limited in many parts of the track, though your navigation apps work offline. All campsites except Hamelin Bay have reception and power hubs for charging.
-
What should I wear on my feet?We recommend comfortable trainers for hiking. Bring an extra pair of thongs or sandals as backup and for wearing around campsites.
-
Can I customize my hike?Absolutely! Contact us to discuss a personalized journey. Alternatively, you can join our open groups of up to 8 hikers, which provides an intimate, self-guided experience and a chance to connect with like-minded adventurers.
-
Are airport transfers available? We’re offering complimentary transfers from Busselton-Margaret River Airport when staying in Margaret River town or Prevelly. This means you can explore car-free as all required hike transfers are included.
-
What is not included in the package?Additional snacks and drinks beyond the meals provided. We offer coffee, water, wine, beer, and all main meals during your hike.
-
Where do we leave our cars?We recommend parking your vehicle where your hike ends in public car parking areas, which are generally safe. Most Cape to Cape track hikers choose this option.
-
When is the best time of year for a Cape2Camp hike?Spring and Autumn are ideal, offering comfortable hiking temperatures. Spring brings stunning wildflowers, while Autumn provides gentle offshore winds, perfect for swimming in rock pools and beaches. Campfires are allowed from April 15th - November 30th in the Margaret River Region and from May 1st - Oct 31st in the Great Southern Region.
-
How easy is the track to navigate? The track is well-marked with clear markers along the way, making it easy to follow. We also highly recommend using a navigation app, such as the Cape to Cape Track App or AllTrails, for added guidance.
-
What about my luggage?Cape2Camp will transport your nighttime luggage from campsite to campsite, allowing for a lighter daypack and a customized journey.
-
How difficult is the hike?Cape2Camp experience is accessible for those with a moderate fitness level. There are some beach sections that some hikers find challenging, but not to be missed due to the stunning scenery and one of the highlights of your coastal hiking adventure! With only a light daypack and no transfers needed before or after, this hike is enjoyable for most fitness levels.
-
What should I carry in my daypack?Essentials include water, swimwear, a towel or sarong, sunscreen, weatherproof clothing, and a battery bank (navigation apps can drain your battery quickly).
-
What is included in the Cape2Camp package? Our package includes transfers, meals and drinks from the Margaret River Region, on-trail tented accommodation, safety guidelines and tips, firewood, and all camping gear. All you need to do is walk and enjoy the experience.
-
What happens in case of an emergency? In an emergency, first connect with others in your group. The Cape2Camp team is just a phone call away. If needed, we can arrange to pick you up. We also provide emergency contact details and can help set up safety features on your phone.
